DISCOVER TETIAROA, HOME OFTHE BRANDO
A mere 20 minutes from Tahiti by plane, the atoll of Tetiaroa was once the former retreat of Tahitian royalty and the personal home of Marlon Brando. Today, it is a private nature reserve encompassing 12 breathaking islets and a four mile lagoon, the home of a scientific research center in partnership with the world’s leading institutions, a thriving community of dedicated local and international staff, and, of course, a truly luxurious and sustainable resort.

Welcome
Another year, another journey around the world to compile our Top 1 00 Suites. Last year, we laser-focused on the most sustainable suites. And while the suites you fi nd this year still have the underpinning of strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) values, you’ll fi nd the suites categorized by your

vacation preference in this issue. Traveling with family? Look at Soneva Fushi and its seriously fun water slide villa. Looking to recharge and refresh? A wellness mecca in Iceland with a private geothermal lagoon will more than su ffi ce. You will also fi nd a selection of the most exciting new openings from the last year. Speaking of which, one of the most talked-about new hotel openings of 2022, Aman New York, has had tongues wagging since it opened its doors in the summer. Elite Traveler ’s Irenie Forshaw speaks to the man behind all the glorious details — famed designer Jean-Michel Gathy — about capturing the essence of New York for the lofty project. With the festive season comes eating, drinking and general merriment, and — of course — gifts. If you’re seeking inspiration for loved ones, look no further than our Gift Guide, where you’ll fi nd a unique and wonderful curation of goodies. If you happen to receive a bottle of fi ne wine as a gift (or as a gift to yourself, no judgment here) then consider the optimum storage conditions. Victoria Daskal heads underground into an old mine-turned-expert-wine storage-space with Octavian. Elsewhere in this issue, we go in search of some winter sun. Becca Hensley touches down in Barbados and revels in all that the colorful island has to o ff er, from the friendly food trucks to the rum experiences (this is the liquor’s birthplace, after all). Alexandra Cheney goes against the grain in New Zealand at the lesser-visited North Island — the best way to take in the striking landscape is by road, as there are some 650 miles of roads that connect tip to tip. And as Alexandra summarizes, “every route is a scenic one.” The road trip theme continues with this issue’s Hot List. I spent a week behind the wheel of a Porsche Taycan Gran Turismo, exploring the mythical fjords of Norway and the incredibly spectacular landscape; many an unplanned stop was made to brave the cold waters with a quick dip. And Oli Smith ventures into the Scottish Highlands to test out a Bentley Bentayga.

Monaco CLARE SMYTH Chef
Clare Smyth MBE is the fi rst and only British female chef whose restaurant holds three Michelin stars in the UK. However, it’s a label of which she isn’t particularly fond. As Smyth herself explains: “Sometimes I feel it can inspire people, but I’m not a fan of automatic labels for anybody. Why should the label of your gender go before being a chef? It’s not about being male or female,” she continues. “I feel like we need to put more focus on making sure people from all backgrounds and cultures work in hospitality, because having people coming at things from di ff erent points of view makes us so much more tolerant and understanding of society, and of our guests.” The celebrated chef sits down with Elite Traveler ’s Irenie Foreshaw at the Festival des Etoilés at Hôtel de Paris in Monaco to discuss the chef's meteoric rise and how she has made her mark in the world of fi ne dining. claresmyth.com p80

The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra is a must-see for the whole family. The musicians harmoniously mix symphonic favorites from the likes of Chopin and Beethoven with sing-along classics from Hollywood musicals. MILLION AIR
Take o ff
Welcome aboard, and welcome to the world of Million Air! Every organization has a culture of some kind. Great organizations do not leave their cultures to chance, but rather de fi ne, create, manage, communicate and teach all employees and stakeholders the vital importance of that culture. At Million Air, we recognize that our ‘product’ is not simply jet fuel; we are a hospitality organization. And as a hospitality organization, we must create a strong culture with guest centered values. As in all service industries, the ‘product’ is largely intangible. One reality of this intangibility is that the value and quality of our ‘product’ is determined exclusively by you — what is in the minds and hearts of our valued customers is what counts. At Million Air, we think carefully about our culture, with you at the heart of our organization. It is a vital part of our strate g y to ensure that everything and everyone in the organization, from our front line equipment to our theater rooms, from our front liners to our leadership, all value and promote the customer experience that you expect, and that we wish to deliver. At Million Air, we believe that we must de fi ne our own ‘outrageous customer service’ culture — design it, teach it and live it every single day. The ladies and gentlemen of Million Air are obsessed with ‘service excellence,’ and we are committed to re fi ning our ‘product’ of service for you, your guests, your aircraft and your crew. We will continue to make every decision with you in mind. Putting you fi rst must be — and is — a way of life at Million Air. We want your travels to and from our facilities to be the very best possible, and to exceed your expectations. As the most productive distinguished travelers in the world, you deserve the very best. We wish you happy travels through the holiday season. Everyone at Million Air awaits your next arrival at one of our 34 exciting locations.

Bozeman
There’s so much to see and do in one of the US’s fastest-growing cities that it might be simpler to ask what not to do in Bozeman. The Montana city, surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, is a celebration of all avenues of life: culture, history, heritage and, naturally, the awe-inspiring nature that engulfs the city. Bozeman is conveniently close to Yellowstone National Park; the city is a mere 90 miles to the immensely popular and much-visited park. Yet the ‘Sweet Pea capital’ of the country is so much more than the residence of choice for Yellowstone visitors. An underrated corner of the Mountain West’s unique culture, Bozeman stands as both a pillar of Montana’s slower pace of life while also captivating tourists with its urban vibrancy, especially its thriving arts scene. Everything is on o ff er here, from The Smithsonian a ffi liated Museum of the Rockies to the Bozeman Art Museum, which honors the city’s art heritage. Don’t miss the Gallatin History Museum,
Bozeman's cityscape
housed in what was once the county jail. Standing right in the middle of town, the museum not only o ff ers a cohesive history of Bozeman through its 20,000 historical images, but also of the state of Montana, including both the expedition of American heroes Lewis and Clark and a segment on the historical role of pioneer women. And as the city grows, the nightlife does, too — be sure to grab a drink on West Main Street, or experience true All-American fanfare by catching a ballgame on television or playing pool at The Rocking R Bar. And yet, it's di ffi cult to not highlight the spectacular beauty that characterizes Bozeman and its surrounding vistas. This really is a utopia on earth for nature lovers. The wondrous Gallatin River has something for everyone, whether it be the serene vistas of the rocky canyons, the seemingly never-ending beauty of the fl oral alpine meadows, or the opportunity to go hiking, horseback riding or white-water rafting.

JAKE COULD FEEL IT.
It was getting harder and harder to push himself.

The results speak for themselves.
successful energy commodities broker and owner of multiple businesses, Jake was juggling
“When I met with the doctors at Cenegenics, it was the first time somebody had been completely honest with me about my health and where I stood,” Jake says. “And not only that, they gave me a specific path to get to where I needed to be.” With state-of-the-art DEXA body-scanning equipment, Cenegenics doctors determined Jake’s starting body composition — muscle mass, body fat and bone density. An ultrasound CIMT test measured the thickness of Jake’s neck arteries to assess his risk of heart attack or stroke. A comprehensive blood panel, allergy & immunology testing andneurological performance examassessed factors like hormone levels, inflammation response and metabolic and brain function. “I came out of it with a plan where all the elements worked together — nutrition, exercise, supplementation,” Jake says. “I’m not wasting time guessing and trying some random thing.” Weekly check-ins with his Performance Health Team keep him accountable and motivated—and mean his program has evolved along with his body through almost 10 years as a client. Jake built lean muscle mass with his Cenegenics Performance Health Coach’s bespoke cross-training regimen and a testosterone supplementation program.
Now in his mid-50s, Jake has less body fat than he did when he was in his 30s, and his predictive markers for heart disease and diabetes have dramatically improved. “I have more energy. I sleep better. I don’t have any soreness when I wake up,” he says. “I’m a single man in my 50s, and I’m in the best shape of my life. Cenegenics gives me confidence to compete against all these young guys out there.”
multiple work trips every month, entertaining clients at late-night events three or four days a week—all while raising three teenagers on his own. A former motorcycle racer and Air Force veteran, he struggled to keep his energy up and his weight down as his metabolism slowed with age. And he knew firsthand that an unhealthy lifestyle was putting him at risk. “My father died at a young age — 57 — from a heart attack,” Jake says. “He was very successful, but an unhealthy lifestyle had a lot to do with what happened to him.”
Our Method
Jake knew that he needed to do something. It wasn’t just for him, but for his kids.

He needed more than just a plan.
“Joining a gym or ordering a food delivery service would have been easy, but I know from my business that one-size-fits-all solutions mean they usually don’t really fit anybody perfectly,” Jake says. “If I was going to commit the time and energy to changing my life, I needed to do it with the help of experts who could build something just for me, for my life.”

Low glycemic load and low sodium foods like vegetables, nuts and dark chocolate replaced the salty snacks in his pantry and his nutritionist showed him how to navigate a restaurant menu without sabotaging his progress when he was out entertaining.
