Amangiri, The Amangiri Suite UTAH, USA
With somewhat of a cult following, Amangiri is perhaps the most famous hotel in Aman’s portfolio and has hosted a number of very famous faces. The one-bedroom abode has a living area with reading chairs and a writing desk, bathroom with twin rain showers and a soaking tub with a separate dressing area, as well as under fl oor heating. Soak up the seemingly endless desert views from the 59-ft private pool, or laze on the sundeck or the sky terrace’s daybed. The Alpina Gstaad, Panorama Suite GSTAAD, SWITZERLAND Pretty much the de fi nition of ‘a room with a view,’ the Panorama Suite at The Alpina Gstaad has peerless views of snow-capped mountains, glaciers (or, if you visit in the warmer months, of pretty meadows) and the villages below. The two-story, chalet-style suite has three bedrooms (the master is a suite in itself with a walk-in dressing room, freestanding bathtub, private balcony and fi replace), and a huge living room, dining room, full kitchen and separate sta ff entrance. After a long day of carving powder on the slopes (Gstaad has the only glacier ski area in the Bernese Oberland), the amenities on the suite’s second fl oor beckon — there’s a treatment room, steam room, sauna, mini gym and an outdoor Jacuzzi with the most spectacular views of the Bernese Alps. From $11,000 per night. Contact Ewout Lionarons, reservations manager, reservations@thealpinagstaad.ch, +41 338 889 888, thealpinagstaad.ch
Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley, Wolgan Villa NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA
When setting out on an adventure, it’s a good idea to follow in the footsteps of one of the world’s greatest. Charles Darwin visited this Australian valley in the 19th century and recorded details about the visit in his diary. You’ll fi nd a volume of said diary in the Wolgan Villa at the Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley. The resort, found on an enormous wildlife reserve, is the world’s fi rst hotel to achieve carbon-neutral certi fi cation by CarbonZero and so, naturally, conservation is championed here — guests can even help out with tree planting, animal assessments and wombat surveys. The 4,413-sq-ft, three-bedroom Wolgan Villa is more like a homestead with a stone-walled living area complete with a roaring fi replace and a country-style kitchen. Outside, a lengthy veranda leads to a temperature-controlled pool. From $7,300 per night.
