The Yeatman, Presidential Suite PORTO, PORTUGAL A veritable mecca for wine lovers, The Yeatman commands a hilltop on the bank of the Douro River in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. Naturally, the hotel has a huge focus on wine, from the 25,000-bottle cellar to the decanter-shaped pool and even in the spa — where you’ll fi nd a menu of wine-centric treatments from vinotherapie maestro, Caudalie. This oenophile theme extends to the Presidential Suite where, in the main bedroom, you’ll fi nd a bed that has been carved into a wooden Port barrel (yes, really). The 1,800-sq-ft suite has two en-suite bedrooms and two living areas that lead to a 1,240-sq-ft terrace with a private swimming pool and garden with magical views of the Porto skyline; man the terrace’s telescope to take a closer look at the historical city. From $2,495 per night. Contact Jan-Erik Ringertz, general manager, reservations@theyeatman.com, +351 220 133 128, the-yeatman-hotel.com
The LanghamChicago, In fi nity Suite CHICAGO, USA Housed within the last o ffi ce building designed by the famed architect Mies van der Rohe, The Langham Chicago is the epitome of Rohe’s signature style of re fi ned simplicity. The skyscraper hotel has sweeping views of the city’s skyline, the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, but these views are perhaps best enjoyed from the two bedroom In fi nity Suite — there are fl oor-to-ceiling windows in pretty much every room. But the real showstoppers are the two en-suite bathrooms: Both are clad in gleaming white Statuario marble; one has an in fi nity waterfall tub while the other has a deep-soaking tub — both have exceptional views of Chicago. There’s also an expansive living room with a fi replace, salon desk, custom-painted grand piano, dining table for 10 guests, and a fully stocked private bar. From $12,000 per night. The Mark, The Mark Penthouse NEWYORK, USA
As The Mark is in one of New York’s most exclusive neighborhoods and has some world-class amenities (such as a Frédéric Fekkai salon and personal training with Dan Flores), it’s hardly surprising that the hotel is the top choice for those attending fashion week or the Met Gala (Anna Wintour stays here for the event). The suite to book is the Penthouse — just ask Meghan Markle; it’s where she hosted her baby shower. It’s the largest penthouse suite in the US at a whopping 10,000 sq ft (which is even more astounding considering the hotel’s location). It has some seriously impressive stats: fi ve bedrooms spread across two fl oors, six bathrooms, two powder rooms, two wet bars and a living room with a 26-ft ceiling that can be transformed into a grand ballroom if you so wish. There’s also a huge rooftop terrace that overlooks Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. From $75,000 per night.
