MGTDEV – Management Development (Department: 196) MGTDEV-134 Credits: 3 Legal Issues for Supervisors Students apply the skills and tools necessary for supervisors to e ff ectively function in today’s legal work environment. Each student will demonstrate the application of legal practices in both union and nonunion environments, analysis of the impact of U.S. employment laws, the impact of the global economy, the appeal process, reacting to legal charges, documenting the hiring and fi ring process, dealing with harassment issues, privacy issues and summarizing legal issues facing contemporary supervisors. MGTDEV-164 Credits: 3 Personal Skills for Supervisors In this course, students apply the skills and tools necessary to deal with time management, stress and related challenges to a supervisor. Each student demonstrates the application of time management techniques, personal planning, continuous learning, valuing rights and responsibilities of others, e ff ective communication, assertiveness, and dealing e ff ectively with stress. MGTDEV-195 Credits: 3 Managerial Communications In this course, students apply the skills and tools necessary to e ff ectively deliver management messages in a written and oral format. Each student demonstrates the application of analyzing the communication situation, including: planning and preparing the message; developing persuasive, informational and negative messages in written and oral formats; demonstrating skills in basic writing mechanics and English grammar; demonstrating e ff ective delivery of oral presentations; incorporating visual aids; and showing sensitivity to diverse audiences. MKTG – Marketing (Department: 104) MKTG-102 Credits: 3 Marketing Principles This course covers the study of the marketing process as it relates to the problems and policies of the pro fi table operation of a business enterprise. Special attention is given to the role and signi fi cance of distribution channels, evaluation of consumer needs, price determination, promotional and sales strategy, and governmental regulations.
