Laurence Candle & Church Supplies 2024-2025-c

I n 1943, Ernest F. Laurence founded Laurence Candle Company to manufacture devotional candles for Catholic Churches. The candle company flourished, operated by six of Ernest’s sons, and transitioned in 1973 to his son James Laurence under whom the company continued to expand. This growth was achieved in part by selling to church goods distributors across the northeast, cultivating and developing robust relationships. We are now firmly established into the third generation of this family business under the guidance of Andrew Laurence as President of Laurence Candle & Church Supplies. Egan Church Supply of Massachusetts was one of the distributors with which James developed a deep-rooted relationship. When Egan decided to sell its distribution business in 2005, Laurence Candle was a natural fit and Egan quickly became a subsidiary. Ryan Church Supply of Spring Lake, NJ is another esteemed distributor whose owners Peter and Maria Ryan also was a perfect match. Pete remains actively engaged in sales and in serving his cherished customers. The acquisition of these two prominent Northeast distributors morphed into Laurence Candle & Church Supplies, affording us the opportunity to continue servicing you directly. We are pleased to welcome the fourth generation of the Laurence family into the business: Andrew Leo Laurence joined the business operations to help serve all your parish needs. We are sincerely grateful for and appreciative of your business.

our history

In Memoriam We are deeply saddened by the loss of James “Jim” Laurence who managed the second generation business for several decades. He devoted his professional life to manufacturing candles and providing church supplies. Jim lived life to the fullest even as he looked forward to the life promised through Jesus. Jim’s faith in the Lord served as his moral compass, even as his life offered the same to all who knew him. July 16, 1936 - June 3, 2022
