“When we write a job description, we try to post it as an opportunity. It's not 'we need someone to take boards off of a conveyor belt and put them on a pallet.' Rather, it's 'we're looking for a craftsman/ apprentice who is looking for an opportunity to learn and become a production manager.' Our goal is to find people who want to learn and teach them a craft. The whole post is written to show that the position is an opportunity to better your life and to work with great people. At the bottom of the post, we then request the person applying sends us a note saying that they want to be a craftsman/ apprentice. While 80 guys might apply, only two or three will take the time to read the whole thing and send a separate note.
