k 1918 view of Gilbert Road Gilbert Road was dirt in 1918. The space between the photographer and Gilbert Road is where the first Town Hall was later built. In the right corner of the picture is the Barber Building that was built in 1911. The home is the original Harmon home. To the far left is the Gilbert Elementary School, which was built in 1913 with the north wing added in 1917. The cameraman was stand ing on the rise of the railroad track foundation. Charles Blakely took over Timmons Garage in 1920, and his sons followed his example and built Blakely stations all over Arizona.
