Gilbert, Arizona

In a recap of Gilbert police protection, it should be said that in the early years we had a Town Marshall to protect us. Our first Town Marshall was Oscar Phelps, who served the com munity beginning in 1920. In 1930, Marshall George Harmon was Town Marshall, and in 1950 his brother, Hubert Harmon, served in that capacity. Fred Dees was hired in 1975 as the last Town Marshall, and in 1977, Marshall Dees became the first Chief of Police in Gilbert, Arizona.
