partnership over the last 70 years. The hospitals are neighbors in their Katy area campus and also share close proximity in The Woodlands and throughout the Houston area. “Texas Children’s Hospital recognized in the early 2000s that the West Houston/ Katy area was on its way to becoming the epicenter of Houston’s population. With a median age of 35, this area holds a large number of families with children. We understand that bringing a sick child to the Texas Medical Center may not always be easy or convenient, so we embraced the opportunity to bring Texas Children’s reputation and level of care to families close to home,” explains Dan Gollins, President of Texas Children’s Pediatrics and Texas Children’s Urgent Care. Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus opened in 2010 with a full range of in-patient and out-patient services in order to provide families with high quality care closer to home. The hospital includes a 26-bed, dedicated pediatric emergency center open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, staffed with board certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians, pediatricians, and advanced practice providers. Six operating rooms are available, primarily for outpatient and select emergent procedures. More

The project will double the size of the emergency center and add two additional operating rooms, six neonatal intensive care beds, six antepartum beds, a neonatal continuing care unit, an expansion of the cardiac catheterization lab recovery area, and additional labor and delivery rooms, including a cesarean section (C-section) suite. Many of these improvements have already been completed, and the remainder are expected to be fully operational in the near future. Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital is focused on expanding its capabilities in the areas of trauma and critical care medicine, neurosurgery, as well as vascular and thoracic surgery to better respond to the emergent needs of those who live and work in and around Katy. Memorial Hermann Medical Group also has nine locations, which focus on a variety of specialties conveniently located throughout the Fulshear–Katy area.

Beyond expansion at its main campus, Houston Methodist West is planning the development of two comprehensive care centers — one adjacent to its Cinco Ranch Emergency Care Center and one at an additional site in Katy. The 60,000-square-foot comprehensive care center in Cinco Ranch will offer primary care, a same-day clinic and lab, imaging, and physical therapy, in addition to specialty care services “As our community continues to expand, we want patients to be able to access health care that is convenient to where they live,” said Kyle Stanzel, Chief Operating Officer for Houston Methodist West. “That’s why we’re increasing the number of locations we have across our area and the types of services that are available at our facilities.” TEXAS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL WEST CAMPUS Texas Children’s Hospital and Houston Methodist have enjoyed a strong such as orthopedics, neurology, gastroenterology, urology and rheumatology.
