Capital City Bank Group Foundation Awards Over $40,000 to Nonprofits in Leon and Gadsden Counties
C apital City Bank Group (CCBG) Foundation — a nonprofit organization created in 1983 by Capital City Bank Group, Inc. — has donated annually for 40 years to charitable institutions across the Capital City footprint in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. During the 2023 grant cycle, the CCBG Foundation reinvested $41,950 into the communities of Leon and Gadsden counties, awarding grants to organizations such as Foundation for Leon County Schools, Leon County Humane Society, Big Bend Habitat for Humanity, North Florida FCA, Survive and Thrive Advocacy Center, The Able Trust and Gadsden Arts Center. The donations provided by the CCBG Foundation help nonprofits carry on the mission of the Foundation to enhance the quality of life for countless local citizens in the areas where the bank does business. “Community involvement has been a hallmark of Capital City Bank since our inception in 1895,” said Don May, Capital City Bank president of Leon and Gadsden counties. “We remain dedicated to investing in worthwhile organizations and seize every opportunity to empower local nonprofits and foster positive change in our own backyard.”
The CCBG Foundation provides grants to nonprofits, charitable organizations, and institutions exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The mission of the CCBG Foundation is to invest in initiatives that benefit local communities. Most of the funds are distributed to specific areas of focus, including: arts/culture, children/youth services, economic/community development, education, health/ sciences and human services.

John Costello, Jr., J.D., is a member of the fiduciary services team at The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company and has been accepted into Class VI of the Florida Fellows Institute of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).
Costello earned his J.D. degree with honors from Emory University School of Law, Atlanta, Ga., and his B.S. in Computer Science from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla. His memberships and admissions include the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section of the Florida
The Florida Fellows Institute was created by ACTEC Fellows to develop the profession’s future leaders in trust and estate law through a series of in-depth educational presentations led by leading subject matter experts in each field from across the United States. “We are so proud of John for being accepted into the Florida Fellows Institute,” said S. Albert D. Hanser, founder and chairman of The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company. “We know this is a rare and prestigious opportunity in the legal profession and our company and clients will surely benefit from his participation.” The institute includes six sessions for lawyers who were nominated by an ACTEC Fellow and selected through a competitive application process. The program begins this month and concludes in May 2024.
