Explore Chattanooga Summer 2025
Along with the Aquarium’s own Trashy Trout, a colorful sculpture of a Southern Appalachian Brook Trout created by Aquarium staff using local plastic waste, these works of art will inspire reflection and action and urge guests to consider their role in protecting aquatic ecosystems from litter. In the recently opened freshwater mussel exhibit, guests discover why these unassuming bivalves are critical to clean water and healthy rivers. Often overlooked, mussels filter pollutants and stabilize sediment in freshwater habitats. The exhibit highlights their incredible biological superpowers and introduces guests to several native mussel species from Tennessee’s Duck River.
Just steps from the Aquarium’s River Journey building, the IMAX 3D Theater offers an exhilarating lineup of nature documentaries and action-packed blockbusters. To complete the summer experience, the popular fountains and streams surrounding the Aquarium are back in action, offering a refreshing way for families to cool off, splash around or relax by the flowing water between the Aquarium’s two buildings. Plan your visit for summer and let your adventures begin at tnaqua.org.
