Spotlight | WHERE TO SHOP

SHOP LOCAL AT GOOD FORTUNE SOAP

A self-taught soapmaker, Jennifer Strain has been making organic skincare products in the Scenic City since 2006. Partnering with professional estheti cians, she has developed a skincare line using natural ingredients such as manuka honey, charcoal, and essential oils. Good Fortune, located on Broad Street near Lookout Mountain, has grown into a shop, spa, and Make & Take Bar specializing in bath salts, bath bombs, body scrub, body oil, lotion, beard oil, skincare sets, lip balm, lip scrub, candles, essential oils, and more. A short drive from the Tennessee Aquarium, Good Fortune gives you access to the mixologists who hand make the products in the shop and can help you do the same. Good Fortune’s Make & Take experience is one of its biggest draws. At the Candle Bar (1 hr), you can create and name your own scent to combine with warm wax for a custom candle. At the Make It Bar (30 min), you can work with a mixologist to create a customized skincare product of your choice. This year’s most popular products at Good Fortune include Edible Brown Sugar Lip Scrub, Naked Raw Soap, Green Tea Face Cream, and soy candles with scent ther apy such as Herbal Tea (a blend of lemon, natural honey, white thyme, and jasmine) and Coastal (warm notes of amber and oakmoss mixed with citrus, clover, aloe, and tonka bean). Strain’s journey to become a Chattanooga small business owner also includes humanitarian work. A trip to South Africa when Good Fortune was first experiencing success fueled her desire to create products that embod ied positivity, utilized recyclable packaging, and were connected to charity. Today, for every purchase from the Food for Face Organic Skincare line, Good Fortune do nates a meal to the Chattanooga Food Bank. 2644 Broad Street, Chattanooga.
