Dear Readers, As the crisp air of autumn drifts into the Tennessee Valley, I am delighted to welcome you to the Fall issue of Explore Chattanooga Magazine —your guide to discovering our city in its most vibrant and colorful season. This is when Chattanooga’s iconic “Scenic City” reputation shines brightest: ridgelines blaze with foliage, the Tennessee River glows under golden light, and every neighborhood district reveals its own distinctive autumnal charm. Fall in Chattanooga offers an extraordinary calendar of events that blend music, competition, and seasonal wonder. In late September, bluegrass takes center stage as the IBMA World of Bluegrass Festival fills the city with five days of pure Americana. October brings the beloved 3 Sisters Bluegrass Festival along the riverfront and the lively traditions of Oktoberfest at the Chattanooga Market, where local flavors, artisans, and fall festivities create a true community celebration. For those drawn to endurance and excitement, Chattanooga sets the stage for some of the season’s most thrilling competitions. The IRONMAN Chattanooga triathlon returns September 28, followed by the 7 Bridges Marathon on October 19. Then, on November 1–2, the mighty Head of the Hooch Regatta, one of the nation’s largest rowing events, races down the scenic Tennessee River. Beyond events, the natural beauty of Chattanooga is irresistible. Stand atop Lookout Mountain for sweeping views at Rock City, venture underground to Ruby Falls, or ride the historic Incline Railway for an unforgettable perspective. Closer to town, the Tennessee Riverwalk, Coolidge Park, and Stringer’s Ridge invite exploration at a slower pace. Distinct neighborhoods like the NorthShore, Bluff View Art District, and the Southside pulse with galleries, boutiques, and one-of-a-kind dining. Speaking of dining, Chattanooga’s culinary scene continues to draw national acclaim. From elevated Southern cuisine in the West Village to innovative fare at Zaya Korean Steakhouse, plus cozy cafés, lively bars, and regional specialties sprinkled across the city, there’s something to satisfy every palate. Our city’s vibrancy has not gone unnoticed. Condé Nast Traveler named Chattanooga one of America’s Best Food Cities, while Forbes , Outside , Southern Living , and The New York Times have celebrated its natural beauty, outdoor adventure, and urban revitalization. So, slip into your favorite sweater, sip a pumpkin-spiced latte, and immerse yourself in Chattanooga’s autumn palette. Here, fall isn’t just a season—it’s an experience. Warm regards,
