Escapees Chapter 8, “Mexican Co tion” is a club that has been leadin terested Escapees members on to Mexico for over 35 years. Chapter 8 holds one major rally each winter, usually in February/March, led by experienced club members lasting two to three weeks. We gather somewhere near the US border in Arizona or Cali fornia and spend several days learning the “ropes” of RV travel south of the border. We explain how to convert US dollars to Pesos, the road conditions, what type of insurance to buy and much more. Knowing Spanish isn’t necessary. The other, and more interesting, part of our rallies is our interaction with the local Mexican people. ity, and each rally includes raising funds and fi nd ing needy organizations with which we can assist, often with hands-on labor (painting, cleaning, rebuilding, etc.). Other charity activities include distributing food, clothing, blankets, personal health care items, used medical equipment (canes, wheelchairs) to those who are in need.
