Xscapers Convergences By HOLLIE PARKS #138407, Convergence Director

Puerto Peñasco, also known as Rocky Point, is a beauti ful coastal town in the northwestern region of Mexico. The town is situated on the Gulf of California and offers stun ning sea views and surrounding landscapes. This fun- fi lled Convergence, hosted by Nicole Hudson #150051, was a smashing success. As with the previous WHBs, the event was designed to have a chill vibe and provide inclusive activities that would appeal to everyone’s interests. In between the catered tacos and tamales, bingo games, tequila samplings, yoga, boat cruises, ATV adventures, Super Bowl parties and Sunday Fundays, the group somehow managed to fi nd the time to give back to the local community in big ways. For example, during a piña colada fundraiser, Xscapers raised over $1,800 for local organizations such as Barb’s Dog Rescue and Compassion without Borders. Additionally, the group organized a concert featuring a local band called “No One Knows,” which helped raise money to make improvements at the RV park. Members also participated in multiple beach clean-ups, ensuring they left the area more beautiful than they found it. In the midst of the Mexico adventures, a separate group of Xscapers enjoyed an epic display of fi reworks during the 2023 Pyro Party (formally known as the Winter Blast). During a six-day event, a small group of Xscapers joined hundreds of other RVers. They fl ocked to the SARA Park Rodeo grounds, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, for camping and a schedule full of fun activities. During the week,

Summer is right around the corner, and the Xscap ers are winding down from some truly great winter and spring Convergences. While some Xscapers headed down to Mexico for the return of the Winter Home Base, others enjoyed the epic fi reworks show during the Pyro Party in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. In March, a record number of Xscapers were in attendance at the 62nd Escapade, and April brought about the laid-back experience of the Arizona Wine Country Convergence. F or the fi rst time since 2021, the Xscapers brought back the Winter Home Base (WHB). For those unfamiliar with WHB, it is a month-long event, created as a safe way for members to gather under the previous Covid 19 restrictions. After restrictions were lifted, there didn’t seem to be much need for the WHB events to continue. However, those lucky enough to attend one of the bases realized that the extended length of the event offered a unique opportunity to connect and bond with other attendees and create lasting friendships. It was those attendees who demanded its return. This year, we put a new spin on the WHB by taking it south of the border. One week after the end of the Annual Bash, a group of Xscapers headed to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, and settled in for a month of sun, sand and culture.
