Welcome Kirsty Halliday, New Hangouts Assistant By THERESÉ JULO #139199, Hangouts Director

A big welcome to Kirsty Halliday, who recently

joined the Hangouts. I bet you already know Kirsty! Maybe you received your fi rst SKP hug from her at an event or through the many areas of Escapees she has been a volunteer. P erhaps you bene fi ted from her compassion as a CARE volunteer. Maybe you ran into her in your travels as she was volunteering as a lighthouse keeper, seasonal Amazon worker or resort manager. Maybe you met her as a Weighmaster for Smart Weigh or assisting at an Escapees RVers Bootcamp or an Xscapers Bash. I could go on—Kirsty can do just about anything. Since 2014 she has been a full-time RVer and an active Escapees member. Kirsty will focus her passions on people, travel, organization and building community as the Hangout Assistant. Together we’ll be creating amazing Hangouts for you to enjoy!

MISSING OUT ON ALASKA As I sat in the Alaska presentations at Escapade, I was truly bummed that this summer, I won’t be able to make the journey to Alaska and join the upcoming Hangouts. The Alaska Hangouts are fi lled with adventures to help you enjoy the wild, rugged, remote and tamed areas of this glorious state. And they are spaced a month apart from each other to give you time to explore on your own. As of this writing, many Escapees are en route to the Hangouts in Fairbanks, Seward, and Valdez. If you feel like you’re missing out too, there’s time to join the Glaciers and Fjords Hangout in Seward, July 10–17, and the Gold Rush Hangout in Valdez, August 2–9. The Alaskan port city of Seward occupies a breathtak ing area shaped by glaciers, nestled between mountains and the ocean. You’ll fall in love with the massive glaciers and abundant wildlife. A glimpse of how you’ll begin the Glaciers and Fjords Hangout is by cruising the Kenai Fjords with the massive glaciers in Resurrection Bay. Spectacular sights abound, including tidewater glaciers, whales, harbor seals, Steller sea lion colonies, puf fi ns, eagles and rookeries of thousands of nesting seabirds.
