White Dove Originals feature custom-made hardwood furnishing, plaques and signs. Another excellent place to shop for art is Yellow Springs Pottery. The cooperative has ten members producing a large selection of hand made pieces. Little Fairy Garden is a good example of the distinc tive shopping opportunities here. It offers tiny plants, gnomes, terrariums and fairies. Other locally-owned shops line downtown streets making for an excellent shopping experience. While in Yellow Springs, make sure and stop for lunch, ice cream and family-style fun at Young's Jersey Dairy. The working dairy farm also features a petting zoo, miniature golf and batting cages. Another great restaurant is Peach's Grill featuring American food and live music. In nearby Dayton is the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force; another great reason to visit this slice of Ohio. Each community, park, shop and restaurant are fi lled with friendly and welcoming people. There is so much to see here and a great destination for a weekend or longer. into the Clifton Gorge. Today, you can still see the mill operate, converting water power into energy. Tour the facility to see early machinery and see how stones are still used to grind grain into fl our. The National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center (NAAMCC), located in Wilberforce, has one of the nation's largest collections of African American materials, including artwork, historical artifacts, manu scripts and thousands of photographs. The museum's collections are used by researchers and museums from around the world, including the Smithsonian. The county also has an abundance of historic commu nities offering fantastic shopping and dining opportuni ties. Yellow Springs, established in the early 1800s, is a great example. This community has a lot to offer for its small population, including many artists selling their creations. Village Artisans, an artist coop is a great place to pick up beautiful locally-made crafts and art, including works made of glass, wood and ceramics, and jewelry, paintings, photography, sculptures and fabrics.
