Set in the rust red sand dunes of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, this is the jewel of camping experiences and the closest accommodation to the iconic sandstone monolith formation of Ayers Rock. The 15 tents – in the loosest sense of the word as they are more like plush pavilions with romantic, domed ceilings – come with modern touches, including iPads with entertainment downloaded onto them. The Red Ochre spa is worth a visit to clean off the dust after a day exploring the park on camelback or by Harley Davidson, both of which can be arranged. The on-site helicopter can be hired for transfers to Ayers Rock Airport, which accommodates private jets. Standout service Head chef Seona Moss can cook up a private four-course menu for you and your party, tailored to the indigenous seasons of the outback. Try the Coffin Bay oysters or, if you’re feeling adventurous, peppered kangaroo carpaccio and ask for Table 131, an utterly secluded outdoor dining spot under the stars. Special amenities Tents have floor-to-ceiling windows for maximal sunset viewings of Ayers Rock. They also have a switch beside the bed to open the blinds without leaving your pillow. Exclusive access to all parts of the national park. Room to book Rent the entire camp for your party (it sleeps up to 30), and take tent 15 (called Jane Webb) for yourself. It’s at the end of the semi-circle so feels most secluded.
