Play time Is it a toy? Is it a clock? It’s both actually. A must on every kidult’s festive wish list, the intricately constructed Melchior Only Watch is the brainchild of “horological artisan” collective MB&F, in collaboration with Swiss high-end clock manufacturer L’Epee 1839. Made from stainless steel, palladium- and chrome-plated brass and anodized aluminium, this unique combination robot and table clock is the 100th and final piece in the company’s Melchior series, launched to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The other 99 have all been snapped up. Melchior gives most action figures on the market a run for their money with his rotating upper and lower arms, while his left arm detaches and doubles as the winding key for the clock movement. The 480-component mechanical design also features a 40-day power reserve. The piece will be auctioned in Geneva by Phillips on November 7 and is expected to fetch in the region of $45,000.

GET INTO THE GROOVE It’s $30,000 but it will make your vinyl sound like a million dollars. We’re seriously excited about Spiral Groove’s latest release, the SG1.2 turntable. Two years in the making, this is an updated version of the award-winning SG1.1, which was originally released back in 2007. Stability and a lack of vibration are vital on turntables and this one weighs in at a hefty 95lbs. The heavier platter delivers a lower noise floor and dampens vibrations. To top it all, it looks as good as it sounds. spiral-groove.com
