DJ booth and main bar at Avenue Club

NIGHTCLUB GUIDE Berlin and its famous underground nightlife scene can be hard to navigate so it helps to have a guide. The man with the keys to the city’s hot spots is Henrik Tidefjärd, founder of Berlinagenten, a company that specializes in food and nightlife tours. Guests of his VIP “Berlin by Night” tour are whisked through the city by chauffeured car and past tattooed bouncers to Berlin’s most hidden and fashionable bars and clubs. These are the after-dark spots to head for: At Le Croco Bleu the bartenders know their stuff, creating well-mixed classics as well as more playful bespoke-style drinks that play on smell and texture. The preserved industrial interior (the bar is hidden within an historic brewery complex) adds to a great experience. It’s all about the champagne at Avenue in the landmark Café Moskau, where once the privileged elite in the GDR dined and celebrated. The best night here is Saturday. And at hot favorite Prinzipal in Kreuzberg Order the Botanical Woman cocktail – gin with basil, ginger, freshly squeezed lime, sugar and lime cordial. berlinagenten.com lecrocobleu.com
