A grand opening

With an exterior shape inspired, it is said, by a snifter of Burgundy swirling around a glass, La Cité du Vin in the heart of the Bordeaux wine region offers visitors “a voyage around the world, throughout the ages, across the countless cultures and civilizations of wine”. Designed by Parisian architects XTU, the $81m project on the banks of the Garonne houses 10 floors for workshops, shows, conferences, tasting laboratories, a library, wine and tapas bars and a wine boutique with bottles from at least 87 countries. À votre santé! Open from June 1, laciteduvin.com
