Chicago River If you’re in Chicago on the day of the St Patrick’s Day parade head to Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive to see the Chicago River transformed. It is dyed green by the Journeymen Plumber’s Local Union. Don’t worry, the fish-friendly dye is long gone by nightfall.
