All about the lace Lace takes center stage this season with beautiful colors and silhouettes – from the ladylike to the rock and roll. Burberry’s collection from chief executive Christopher Bailey is full of lace. Patchwork, macramé and knitted varieties were showcased in a series of beautiful dresses. Our favorite is a nude trench, which is a laser-cut calfskin that has a floral lace effect. At Vionnet, creative director Goga Ashkenazi presented several new shapes – the macramé floral lace pencil skirt with a sporty tunic gives a cool downtown silhouette. ClareWaight Keller introduced rock and roll to the Chloé collection this season. Gothic black lace and animal prints appeared alongside the signature boho-chic. A soft quilted leather jacket worn over a black lace gown hits the right mix of rock and glamour. For one of his last Balenciaga collections, Alexander Wang included many of the house’s signatures, including peplums, and several looks were layered over a sheer lace slipdress for a sophisticated edge.
