INSPIRE CLASSIC CARS

TRUCKS APPEAL It was only in production for seven years, but the Chevy Thriftmaster was an iconic part of post-war America. The old trucks have long been popular in classic motoring circles. Now 4x4 specialists Icon have recreated the old workhorse for a modern generation. It’s a powerful take on an old master, throwing together elements from each year the truck was made. Purists can rest easy as the attention to detail is amazing. Even badges are cut to the old font. Verdict: Maybe more fun than a Ferrari, definitely more practical. $230,000; iconthriftmaster.com

AN ICON RETURNS To many, the Jensen Interceptor is the car fictional British agent James Bond should drive (and he does in the recent William Boyd-penned novel Solo ). A symbol of late 1960s British motoring (with all the quality issues that entails) the brand was reborn last year, with a run of new custom-built Interceptors. These have hand-made bodies and underpinnings from the new Corvette. A welcome return for an old favorite, now more desirable than ever . Verdict: One of the sexiest modernised classics money can buy. $250,000; jensen-sales.com
