JUST ADD OIL

La Mer The Renewal Oil 15ml, $95, worlddutyfree.com

The use of oil in beauty and skincare is nothing new — the ancient Greeks and Romans bathed in olive oil;

Cleopatra used olive and sesame oils on her skin; Rita Hayworth applied oil to her signature red locks. While oils can be useful to help skin that is on the drier side, they can also help with dullness and nourishment — oils are occlusive, meaning they create a ‘seal’ on your skin to prevent water loss. La Mer’s The Renewal Oil is rich yet light and smells utterly divine (it’s a must for any long-haul flights when your skin needs a little extra love). Olaplex’s No7 Bonding Oil has a cult following for good reason — the highly concentrated oil repairs damaged hair and can provide heat protection up to 450°F. It’s best to use on damp hair; be sparing — a little goes a very long way. The Purifying Body Oil from hotel brand Aman has a blend of vitamin C, kombu oil (a marine algae) and arnica, an herb that is known for its anti-inflammatory properties.
