Courchevel 1850, named after its height in meters, is a snowy dream

RELAX The Spa at L’Apogée by La Prairie

L’APOGÉE COURCHEVEL COURCHEVEL, FRANCE You can’t get a better location — at the very top of the former Olympic ski jump in the Jardin Alpin area of Courchevel 1850, L’Apogée is a snowy dream, and with a private airstrip just five minutes away. Designed in a typical chalet style, the ski-in, ski-out resort is alpine chic at its best. For those who are more about après ski, there are two restaurants, a cozy bar, cigar lounge and designer boutiques. If you’re traveling with children, there’s plenty to keep all ages entertained thanks to the kids club and ski school. Service is a knockout and in such an exclusive location, privacy is paramount. Adjoined to the rest of the resort, guests can enjoy all the amenities of L’Apogée while still getting that remote-lodge feel. Personal butler Yannis is a delight and will check in with you via text to ensure you have everything you need, and can remotely open the front door for you in case you don’t feel like carrying keys. The chalet can comfortably sleep 10, and each room is spacious yet snug. The decor is, of course, classic alpine with fluffy rugs and bespoke furniture. The large windows offer the most serene views of the surrounding mountains; there’s nothing more peaceful than watching the snow fall when you’re tucked into the enormous bed. After a long day skiing, retreat to the chalet’s own hammam, large Jacuzzi and private cinema, or have a massage in the private treatment room.

Even with your own spa facilities and treatment room at the chalet, the spa is worth a visit. There’s a treatment of the month and a number of top-notch facials, massages and body treatments to choose from, but we recommend the La Prairie Signature Facial — an expert will discuss your skincare needs, tailor the treatment to your skin and explain how each product targets any problems so you can take the regime home with you. Fine French cuisine is complemented by the majestic mountain views. Order the Gillardeau oysters and be sure to visit the Savoie cheese cellar. Koori Here, the mouthwateringly good sushi tastes as divine as it looks. And there’s sake tasting available too, so you and four guests can pair ENJOY The chalet is ski-in, ski-out, so you can be whizzing down the powdery slopes of some of the best runs in the world quicker than you can say “ allez allez.” There are runs for all abilities, private instruction available for beginners and ski school for children. There’s also a 131-ft private conveyor belt to bring you back to the ski room, where staff will be waiting to remove your boots and replace them with warm, cozy slippers. DINE Le Comptoir de L’Apogée your sushi with a variety of premium sake. Contact lecomptoir@oetkercollection.com; koori@oetkercollection.com
