writing, lyrics and tremendous talent of the performing cast who poked fun at politi- cal leaders and well-known personalities/ newsmakers on the local, state, national and international stage. I have not missed a show since 1979. From November 29–December 2, the tremendously talented team of CBA lawyers that write, direct and perform the Bar Show will stage the 95th Annual Bar Show. Based on current events at all levels of govern- ment, there certainly will be plenty of great material for this year’s show. Early word on the street is that the 2018 show will be one of the best ever. While I have loved each show, one of my favorites was the 1998 show titled: “Gagtime,” which featured a full parody of the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewin- sky scandal starring Bill Clinton (played by Peter Bensinger), Hillary Clinton (Loretto Kennedy), Monica Lewinsky (Mary J. McNichols), Ken Starr (Cliff Berman), and Newton Gingrich (Robert J. Nye). For many years, Julian Frazin, Phil Citrin and E. Leonard Rubin were respon- sible for writing, selecting the music and directing the show. Julian was in charge of the lyrical writing for the “Book of the Show,” Phil Citrin helped Julian select popular musical numbers which were fea- tured in the show and Len Rubin, who had previous professional acting and directing experience, served as the show’s director. Today’s writers and leaders of the Bar Show include: Clifford Berman, David Miller, Jay Schleppenbach, Sally Pissetzky Steele, and Amy Keller. Jeff Marks and Larry Aronson serve as the business/marketing gurus for the show and do a terrific job, as does director and choreographer, Marla Lampert. Thousands of members have participated in the show’s 95-year history including: John H. McDermott, John C.

O ur Association is populated by some of the most brilliant attor- neys in the world; but the attri- butes of this diverse Association of lawyers is not limited to lawyering skills. I want to showcase the extraordinary talent of so many of our members outside of the court- rooms and boardrooms. Hundreds of CBA members perform annually on stage as part of the CBA Bar Show (formerly known as Christmas Spirits) and as part of the CBA Symphony Orchestra, the CBA Big Band, and the CBA Chorus. Please make time in your schedule to catch a performance by one of these groups. You will be amazed at the talent among us! The CBA Bar Show The Bar Show has always been a holiday tradition for my family of lawyers. I attended my first Bar Show with my late father (Judge Richard Jay Elrod) during my first year of law school in 1979. The Title of that show was “Draculaw” and I vividly recall the humorous jabs taken at then Mayor Jane Byrne and President Jimmy Carter. I was in awe of the clever
