ABA 2024 ANNUAL MEETING IN CHICAGO, IL

Thin or Thick Crust? Judge Jasmine Hernandez, Circuit Court of Cook County True Chicagoans will agree it’s our thin crust, tavern-style pizza, not deep dish, that should be celebrated. Salerno’s Restaurant offers mouthwatering regular and thin crust pizzas. Smothered in cheese, these pizzas can’t be missed. At its West Loop loca tion, patrons can even grab a slice at the to go counter. For a delicious cracker-thin crust option, head to Pat’s Pizza and Ristorante in Lincoln Park. Not only is the pizza delightful, but if you order an entrée, you’ll receive a fresh, warm, melt-in

Chicago’s architecture is legendary. You can get a unique, up close look at the highlights without walking a single step by hop ping aboard one of the Wendella tour boats that embark from downtown Michigan Avenue (go down the steps to the river; signs point the way). You’ll spend 90 minutes on an open-air ride that covers all three branches of the Chicago River. Enter taining guides share the history of our town behind the skyline. As an alternative to the boat tour – or in addition to it! – check out Chicago’s very own exquisite Tiffany Dome – the largest Tiffany glass dome in the world, restored to its original 1897 glory at the Chicago Cultural Center on Washington Street just off Michigan Avenue. It’s free, and it’s fabulous. WendellaBoats. com; chicago.gov FOOD Chicago style hot dogs can cause people outside of our city to wince, especially kids who like just plain dogs or ketchup (it’s true that if you order a dog with ketchup in Chicago, you will get side-eyes from the locals). But when you’re here, taste the magic of a hot dog placed into a poppy seed bun and topped with yellow mustard, diced onions, tomato slices, neon green relish, a pickle spear, peppers, and celery salt. The flavors seem like they shouldn’t go together, but they absolutely do. Here are some options for great Chicago dogs: Jimmy’s Red Hots (4000 W. Grand Ave.), the Wieners Circle (2622 N. Clark St.), Superdawg (6363 N. Mil waukee Ave.,) or Portillo’s (100 W. Ontario St.). Chicago Style Hot Dogs Are a Thing Kathryn C. Liss, CBA 1st Vice President; DePaul University College of Law

My favorite place to eat hot buffalo-style chicken wings in Chi cago is Yak-Zie’s Bar & Grill. Unlike other places, the wings at Yak-Zie’s are affordable and fresh. Plus, the buffalo sauce (called “omg”) strikes a great balance between projecting spiciness and retaining flavor. Located across the street from Wrigley Field, Yak-Zie’s is an excellent place to eat in general, but especially before or after any Chicago Cubs baseball game. yakzies.com Don’t Just Try the Pizza: Chicago’s Ethnic Cuisine Rocks Daniel A. Cotter, Dickinson Wright Chicago is known for its deep-dish pizza, with Pequod’s, Uno’s, Giordano’s, and many other names coming up as the best, but beyond the pie, explore our ethnic restaurants. The City of Big Shoulders is known for its rich variety of great dining. We have exceptional Mexican, Chinese, Italian, and German places, but also Greek, Ethiopian, Ukrainian, and just about everything else. Explore a variety of cuisines at Lollapalooza, happening during the ABA annual meeting. The festival has tons of food vendors offering some great stuff! Made Famous by The Bear: Chicago Italian Beef Daniel Berkowitz, Cruser, Mitchell, Novitz, Sanchez, Gaston & Zimet, LLP The Bear helped take national a lesson Chicagoans have known for years. Forget the cheesesteak. Keep your Muffaletta. The Cuban can’t compete. The best sandwich in America is the Italian Beef. Add sweet or hot peppers. Pick your level of au jus (dry, dipped, or wet). Add cheese if you really want to go over the top. Here are your best dining options: Mr. Beef (666 N Orleans St.,
