Ray’s passion and vision will undoubt edly uplift the legal community. His dedication and innovative approach to inclusion makes him an inspiring force for progress. Ray is adept at building relationships within the bar and bench. His bar year will have a lasting impact on the LGBTQ+ community on our path toward equality and acceptance. Community & Family Since the very beginning of his career, Koenig has felt compelled to serve. His mother instilled this trait in him from an early age – she encouraged him to say yes when he was asked for help. Koenig continues to answer the call of service to others. He was appointed to his fifth consecutive term on the Chicago Com mission on Human Relations. Governor Pritzker recently selected him to serve as a State Employees Retirement System – Judge Mary Cay Marubio, Circuit Court of Cook County
Board of Trustees member. He is passionate about advocating for the LGBTQ+ community and other mar ginalized communities. Koenig co-chaired the National Planned Giving Council for Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund for 15 years, is past chair of the Chi cago House and Social Service Agency, and a past member of the board of direc tors for Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights. In addition, he co-chairs the DePaul University College of Law Alumni Diversity Council and serves on the LAGBAC Foundation board. In addition to serving on the CBA’s Board of Managers and the CBA Probate Practice Committee, Koenig is actively involved in multiple legal organizations, including the Illinois Institute for Con tinuing Legal Education, Board of Direc tors, the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, the Illinois State Bar Association, LAGBAC, and the American Bar Association.

Koenig married his husband, Johnny Song, in 2010. Later that year, the couple welcomed twin daughters, Grace and Addy. Koenig and Song enjoy spend ing weekends cheering on the girls at their competitive swim meets or playing board games together when they get a rare quiet night at home. Koenig credits his husband with keeping the family on track and pro viding the stability he needs to focus on his career. An investment banker, Song gave up his job to stay home to raise their
