BOARD OF GOVERNORS MEETING NOVEMBER 8, 2024 IN REGULAR SESSION, THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS CONDUCTED THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS:

The Board of Governors met on Friday, November 8, 2024. Officers and Bar Governors in attendance were, Pres ident R. Blackburn, President-Elect T. McMurtry, Vice President M. Cook, Immediate Past President W. Schrock, Young Lawyers Division Chair D. Combs. Bar Governors 1 st District – J. Sigler, S. Montalvo-Gesser; 2 nd District – R. Reed, S. McGehee-Shacklette; 3 rd District – D. Benge, J. Ridings; 4 th Dis trict - S. Phillips, J. Watkins; 5 th District – A. Adams, L. Mayo; 6 th District – J. Gatherwright, C. Stavros, and 7 th Dis trict – M. Click, W. Hall. In the Executive Session, the Board of Governors considered two (2) disci plinary cases, involving one attorney, five (5) disciplinary default cases, involving two attorneys, and two (2) restoration cases. Greg Caudill of Dan ville, and Steven Ray of Madisonville, non-lawyer members serving on the Board pursuant to SCR 3.375 partici pated in the deliberations. • President-Elect and Chair of the KBA Budget & Finance Committee Todd V. McMurtry advised that committee has met to discuss the FY 2025-2026 budgetary needs. More information is to come as the committee develops the budget for the Board’s review and approval at the January meeting. • President-Elect McMurtry advised that the 2025 Summer Meeting would be held at Shaker Village in Harrodsburg on July 24-26. • Young Lawyers Division Chair Donald H. Combs III stated as previously reported The Barrister’s Ball will be combined with the Legal Food Frenzy in an effort to generate more interest for both events/projects. This event is currently scheduled to be held at UK’s Law School and the proposed date will be set sometime between the end of Feb ruary or the first of March. Mr. Combs reported that discussions are taking place to send out letters of congratula tions to the new lawyers who passed the Bar exam and letters of encouragement to those who didn’t pass. • Approved issuing Show Cause Notices for non-payment of dues and non-com pliance for CLE. • Approved the reappointment of Mar garet E. Keane to the KBA Audit Committee, to serve another three-year term ending on December 31, 2027,

and reappointed Bar Governor Jennifer Gatherwright as chair for another one year term ending on December 31, 2025. • Approved the reappointment of Judge Denise M. Clayton (ret.) to the Bar Center Board of Trustees for another three-year term ending on December 31, 2027. • Approved the reappointment of C. Thomas Miller from the Western Dis trict and Haley T. McCauley from the Eastern District for respective four-year terms on the Joint Local Federal Rules Commission ending on December 31, 2028. • President Rhonda J. Blackburn reported the plans for the Long Range Strategic Plan are on schedule. A member survey will be emailed to the membership next week and the planning committee will be conducting stakeholder interviews in the coming weeks. Ms. Blackburn reported the committee is scheduled to have a planning retreat for April 24 – 25, 2025. • President Blackburn reported the 2025 Annual Convention planning commit tees have held their first organizational meetings and both committees are working to secure venues for the var ious events, CLE programming and speakers. It has been recommended to select the Children’s Advocacy Center of Kentucky, with 15 locations across the state, as the Public Service Project.
