BIP Winter 2024

“ It is NABIP’s responsibility to ensure our leaders are successful and feel rewarded for their volunteer efforts.” — KEVIN TROKEY, REGION VI VP

Only two states in Region VII still have local chapters. While dissolving local chapters does lead to the loss of delegates, at the same time, it’s allowed the region to trim administrative fat and relieve some of the burden on its volunteer leaders. “We’ve eliminated a lot of the waste around financial and time commitments that come with boards at each level,” says Prior, new business manager at Cigna Healthcare. “With committees at the state level, you’ve got more people to spread the work out, so you don’t have one struggling and doing all this heavy lifting.” Adds Tierney, “There’s a lot of passion in our region. We don’t have that membership volume, but the members are very engaged and want to see the association succeed. We’ve got tons of engaged leaders who are open to sharing ideas and helping people figure out what works and what doesn’t. Everybody’s fighting the same fight.”
