BIP Summer 2025
BECOMING WHO WE WERE By Alycia Riedl, NABIP immediate past president MEANT TO BE
This year wasn’t just about progress — it was the culmination of years of effort, clarity and courage. NABIP stepped into its full identity: a transformed association with a bold new name, visionary leadership and a sharpened sense of purpose. We did the hard work — the alignment, the rebuilding, the listening — and because of that, we’re now positioned to lead in a way we never have before. It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to help shepherd this incredible organization into its next chapter. I’ve felt humbled every day by the weight of that responsibility, and deeply grateful to do it alongside so many passionate leaders, dedicated members and a phenomenal staff team. The conversations in hallways, the sparks of connection during First Fridays and the trust placed in us through moments of challenge have reminded me why this work is so human — and why it matters. For me, this role has also been deeply personal. I grew up in this industry. My late father ran our family agency, and so much of my drive to lead has been rooted in honoring his legacy and making him proud. That’s not my only motivation — but it’s a core part of who I am. We all have our reasons for showing up. And when we bring those reasons together, the impact we can make is extraordinary. This experience has changed me for the better — as a leader and as a person. It’s a journey I will carry with me always. We are now grounded in who we are and why we exist: to lead the transformation of healthcare for the American consumer. As professionals who walk alongside individuals, families, employers and providers throughout the healthcare journey, we have a unique window into the entire ecosystem. Our purpose is clear — to ensure care is accessible, affordable and equitable — and that belief is embedded in our Healthcare Bill of Rights.

NABIP is no longer waiting for the future — we are building it. The collective power we represent is meaningful. Now, it’s up to all of us to harness that power. NABIP’s future is bold, brilliant and ours to shape — together.
