BIP Spring 2025

Healthcare is Local

Making membership matter in NABIP San Diego Strong leadership on the board, member and partner engagement and a commitment to innovation make this chapter one to watch.

The San Diego Chapter of NABIP stands out for its member engagement, philanthropy and leadership, driven by members who continually innovate to maintain its impact, including five past presidents still on its board. “We keep trying to reinvent ourselves,” says Ricky Haisha, president of Haisha Insurance Services in La Mesa, California. A key differentiator is San Diego’s strong commitment to philanthropy. Events like the Dancing Showdown recently raised $50,000 for the Center for Community Solutions, while their work with the Challenge Athletes Foundation provides inclusive experiences for children with disabilities. “The philanthropic committee has always been led by heartfelt board members,” says Haisha. Beyond philanthropy, NABIP San Diego prioritizes member engagement. The popular Taco Tequila Tuesday annual membership event attracts about 100 attendees, offering networking, industry updates and giveaways. “It’s free for members, and we give away great prizes — like a 55-inch TV — but only members can win,” Haisha says.

“The annual member appreciation event, Taco Tequila Tuesday, in Old Town San Diego, is our way to give thanks to our members with free food, margaritas and giveaways,” says Haisha. The eve ning also raises funds for local charities.
