HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE VALLEY HOSPITAL YEARS

2005 Valley is the first hospital in northern New Jersey to offer birth doulas as an option for all women delivering at the Center for Childbirth. 2010 Surgeons at The Valley Hospital’s Institute for Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery recently performed the hospital’s 1,000th surgery using the daVinci Surgical System. 2010 The Valley Heart and Vascular Institute is established. Valley is the first hospital in Bergen and Passaic counties to offer the neurointerventional biplane angiography system, an advancement in the diagnosis and treatment of stroke, brain aneurysms, brain and neck tumors, and other neurological conditions. 2011 The Valley Hospital has a free app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch that features a directory of Valley physicians.

1925 The Ridgewood Hospital Association incorporated.

1997 Valley Health System is formed.

2002 The Robert & Audrey Luckow Pavilion opened. The Valley Hospital Receives “Choice Award” by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers, which symbolizes excellence in hospital service delivery and recognizes excellence in quality care, customer service and physician relations. 2005 Valley develops program with Ridgewood High School and Bergen Community College called Ridgewood Academy for Health Professions for students interested in pursuing a career in the health and medical fields. 2005 Newly renovated and expanded Bolger Emergency Department is opened. Unit includes a special pediatric suite, new CT scanner, private patient rooms and an increased number of minor treatment beds.

1926 7½ acres on North Van Dien Avenue purchased.

1949 Groundbreaking for The Valley Hospital.

1951 Hospital opens with 108 beds.

1963 East Wing opens.

1968 West Wing is completed.

1969 East and West Wings dedicated as Phillips Building, total licensed bed capacity, 247. 1973 Completion of F. Willard Bergen Pavilion, giving a total of 387 licensed beds.

1987 North Wing dedicated. Valley Home and Community Health Care incorporated.
