Autumn Years Fall 2023

Sri Lanka Sri Lanka, once known as Ceylon, is an island in the Indian Ocean whose history dates back thousands of years. A diverse country, with tropical coast lines, it encompasses a broad range of archaeological sites and historic towns—from spectacular Buddhist World Heritage Sites that range from massive dagobas (also known as stupas, common religious structures) built in pre-Christian times, to the Ran giri Dambulla Cave Temple, a sacred pilgrimage site that is the largest, best preserved cave temple in the country. Then there is its collection of wild life that includes Asia’s largest elephant and leopard populations and hundreds of bird species, including 30 that do not exist in any other country. Native guides are eager to give visitors a tour of all these amazing and often unique attractions.
