All About Holland 2026
Beaches
Bask in the beauty of the Lake Michigan shoreline and the magnificent beaches that adorn it.
Holland State Park For a classic day at the beach, go to one of Michigan’s most visited state parks. This lakeside oasis has windswept sandy beaches, dunetop hiking trails, and two seasonal track wheelchairs capable of handling trails, sand, and shallow water. As a bonus, it also has the best views of the Big Red Lighthouse. *Dogs not permitted on Lake Michigan Beach but are welcome on paved paths, along channel, and on Lake Macatawa beach. 2215 Ottawa Beach Rd, 49424 * From Memorial Day to Labor Day, check the flag system at Holland State Park’s swim beach; conditions change quickly
Kirk Park High bluffs, wooded dunes, and 1/3 mile of sandy Lake Michigan coastline define popular Kirk Park. You’ll find a swimming beach, a barrier-free trail to the Lake Michigan overlook deck, kids play area, and a dedicated off-leash dog beach. 9791 Lakeshore Dr N, 49460 Laketown Beach A bit off the beaten path, tiny Laketown Beach offers spectacular views of the “Big Lake.” Parking is minimal, and the walk up the towering dunes is challenging, but the reward is a pristine beach and cool refreshing waters. 6710 142nd Ave, 49423 Olive Shores This mostly wooded park is known for its sandy swimming beach and the trails, boardwalks, and many stairs traversed to get there. Olive Shores is a great spot to watch a spectacular West Michigan sunset. 8555 Olive Shore Ave, 49460
Tunnel Park Climb a dune staircase to panoramic views of Lake Michigan, or take a shortcut through the namesake tunnel to a rolling sandy beach. A great place for a picnic, Tunnel Park is the spot to unwind as the kids race up and tumble down a soaring sand dune.
*Pets permitted on leash October 1 – April 30 only. 66 Lakeshore Dr N, 49424 *
