All About Holland 2026
Uniquely Holland
Big Red
Don’t miss Michigan’s most photographed lighthouse, Holland’s beloved “Big Red.” Since 1907, this iconic beacon has stood sentinel over the channel to Lake Michigan. For a breathtaking vista of the shoreline and its colorful guard, climb a dune staircase to the top of Mt. Pisgah – it’s definitely worth the 239 steps! For the closest public view, follow the scenic Black Lake Boardwalk to the north pier at Holland State Park – the best place to admire this lakeshore landmark. (You can also drive directly to Holland State Park and still enjoy a fantastic view). 2215 Ottawa Beach Rd, 49424 One of the last of its kind in America, the Holland Bowl Mill makes exquisitely crafted solid hardwood bowls the same way it was done over 150 years ago. It can take almost 100 years for a hardwood tree to develop the grains that make each bowl so beautiful, and the skilled artisans who handle the wood give it the reverence it deserves. For over a month, they lovingly hand carve, dry, sand, and oil each piece, touching each one more than 100 times in the process. This 5th generation family business is descended from wooden shoe carvers and remains a master of a vanishing art. Come visit their factory where antique machinery is buzzing, sawdust is flying, and the scent of Holland Bowl Mill
