At the time I am writing this, we are a few days away from Super Bowl LIX, where we will witness the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles for the second time in a row! Though I’m not a fan of either team, I can’t help but admire the tenacity, hard work and dedication each one of these players bring to their respective teams. It doesn’t matter if you’re the quarterback like Patrick Mahomes or Jalen Hurts, each person brings something special to the team and everyone must bring their “A” game. There are no bench riders; you must commit to the play and be a teamplayer in order to reach the goal of winning the highest level in the NFL. As members of the Alief ISD team, we should run our plays the same way. In order to achieve the results that we want, we have to do the work, be willing to get our hands dirty, and commit ourselves to the ultimate goal of

providing the highest quality education for our students. Alief has always been forward-thinking and we do our best to remain prepared for what lies ahead. It is because of this forward-thinking that we have designed programs to best fit the needs of our students. From our Schools of Choice to our CTE program, Performing and Visual Arts and STEM academies; you can find it all in Alief ISD. We make decisions based on the end in mind and to educate the whole child. We could not do what we do without our amazing Board of Trustees, campus and district leaders, teachers and community members. Our student-athletes are well-versed in teamwork. They exemplify this on and off the court and field every single day. Whether it is from their coaching staff, their parents or each other, our students understand that we can only get better together. I have referred back to my time as a student-athlete and the lessons learned throughout every step of my professional career. As your superintendent, please know that this work that I do is not done alone. Whether it be the Board of Trustees, cabinet, student, teacher and community advisory boards or people I meet in the grocery store, I don’t take for granted the ideas you share with me on how best to improve our schools. I want to encourage our community to continue to be a part of our Alief ISD team by supporting the extracurricular activities of our students. Whether it’s attending a soccer match, track meet, Fine Arts exhibit or speech debate; know that your presence is felt and appreciated. Thank you for taking part in the education of our students. Having you on this journey is paramount to our success.
