Learning (DEAL). The purpose of DEAL is to promote student achievement, and to enhance student learning, promote success, and progress in the art of dance. The Texas Dance Educators Association All State Dance Team is composed of dancers representing schools from across the state of Texas. This year’s ASDT was the largest with over 200 dancers, participating in an exciting convention experience that included dance workshops, leadership training, master classes, and networking with other students. Visual arts students in Alief ISD have excelled in various competitions and awards. They have received top honors, including Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mentions, in the National Scholastic Art Awards. The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Art Awards have recognized Alief ISD students as Class Champions, Best of Show, and recipients of the Gold Medal award. High school and middle school art students also compete in UIL regulated events, such as the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) and Jr. VASE, respectively.
