You likely have your list of successes and accomplishments. Capture them, write them down, and document them. I want to remind everyone about our continued commitment to providing choices and opportunities for our students and their families. In 2019-2020, we began to offer our Two-Way Dual Language Program in English and Spanish. The TWDL classes are intentionally designed to hold 50% Spanish speakers or emergent bilingual students and 50% English speakers wishing to learn Spanish. TWDL teachers teach classes are taught in English and Spanish, ensuring students exit the K-12 program biliterate, bilingual, and bicultural. We are excited about the future and the new initiatives we have in store. Next fall, we will launch HEAL (Health Education And Learning) High School. The campus will offer five high-in-demand pathways: nursing, pharmacy, physical, and occupational therapy. This is just one of the many exciting initiatives we have planned. We encourage families with eligible students to learn more and consider applying. Finally, the new Thorne Stadium, set to open in time for the 2024 football season, is a state-of-the-art facility that will accommodate up to 10,000 guests with two tiers of seating. The stadium will feature cutting-edge technology, including high-definition video screens, advanced sound systems, spacious and comfortable seating, and top-notch facilities for athletes and performers. It is expected to be a showplace for Aldine supporters and students, providing a premier facility for our parents, students and community members. The stadium will enhance our sports programs and serve as a hub for community events and gatherings, further strengthening our sense of community and pride. We will welcome students back on Monday, July 22, 2024 , the first day of school for students on the ADSY calendar — Ermel Elementary School, Harris ES, Smith ES, and Vines EC/PreK/K School. For all other campuses, the students' first school day will be Monday, August 12, 2024 . Please mark these dates on your calendars and prepare for a smooth start to the new school year.
