So, we encourage you, challenge you, to take the leap and choose one outing (maybe two!) and to join the 46er trail crew amid the mountains this year. With 12 out ing weekends there is bound to be something that will fit your schedule. Come for one day or stay the weekend and camp out with the crew, whatever works for you. If you do, the next time you trod a trail you’ll smile with pride knowing you made a positive change in the peaks. Join the Trail Crew Victoria Challingsworth, #8789V P erhaps you just completed your 46er journey and want to stay connected to the mountains. Maybe your kids recently flew the coop, or you just retired and have newfound free time. Possibly you are looking for a way to give back to your community and the mountains you have grown to love. Whatever the case may be, the 46er Trail Masters welcome you to join the 46r trail crew this year on an out ing! You are sure to walk away feeling a sense of accom plishment and pride, and perhaps a newfound skill or two. Now, we can’t promise there won’t be bug bites, mud, and maybe a few sore muscles to go with . . . but we’re hik ers, that’s nothing new! Most of all we know that you will leave with a feeling of community and family, forged by hard work with newfound friends, who share your love of the Adirondacks. Everyone is welcome, no experience is needed to participate, we’re here to teach and learn to gether.
Wondering what kind of work you could participate in? The 46er trail crew does it all, from build ing bridges and installing water bars, to improving drainage and blowdown sweeps, the possibilities are limitless! Learn how to use a crosscut saw or how to install drainage to minimize erosion. If you’re willing to learn we’re will ing to teach. Check out these pictures of the crew in action!
