I know a lot of people who regret the things they did not do, the risks they did not take; but I don’t know a single one who regrets traveling to a remote region, to a devastated community, in order to serve people who need it. BRYNN, CMMB GLOBAL HEALTH VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

reflecting on their ministerial service in the light of Gospel, and sharing in the life and prayer of the Sisters and Associates. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: Ministries with Sisters in pastoral ministry, social service, and education. AREA OF SERVICE: Long-term placements available in Cincinnati, Ohio and El Paso, Texas. Short-term placements are available in Cincinnati only. LENGTH OF SERVICE: Long-term placements are for 10-12 months, short-term placements are for three to six months. REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 20 years of age, single or married, no dependents, in good health (both physical and psychological), have a Christian background and motivation, a desire to be of service, a willingness to work with Sisters of Charity, and an openness to prayer and faith-sharing with Associates and Sisters. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Long-term Associates are provided with a stipend and health insurance. Short-term Associates are provided with a stipend. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Individual or in community with sisters (for long-term Associates). SIZE OF PROGRAM: One to three each year. TRAINING: Orientation is provided on site and with the Sisters. Volunteers live in one of 15 homes on site and share in the joy of living in community. AREA OF SERVICE: Northwest Indiana LENGTH OF SERVICE: Long-term: One year. Short-term: Six weeks in summer. REQUIREMENTS: Long-term: Degree preferred. Experience working with developmentally disabled people helpful. Patience, acceptance of people with different abilities. Willingness to make a one-year commitment. Short-term: Summer volunteers must be 18 or over. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Long-term: Room and board, health insurance, $250 stipend per week, two days off each week on a rotating basis, bonus of $1,200 at the end of one year of completed service. [Bonus increases after each year of additional service.] Paid time off: 1 week at Easter, 1 week at Thanksgiving and 2 weeks at Christmas. Short-term: Room and board, small education stipend. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Volunteers live in one of 15 three-bedroom homes in the community of Sharing Meadows. Volunteer shares home with two mildly to moderately mentally challenged adults of the same gender. SIZE OF PROGRAM: Long-term: Fifteen volunteers. Short-term: 25 volunteers. TRAINING: Long-term: Initial four-day orientation, ongoing training and support throughout the year. Short-term: Orientation, ongoing support each week.
