The umpire and the batter create framing around the pitcher and add context to the image. This is excellent selective focus and framing from the player at bat and umpire. What a good angle – the photographer chose to take this photo from an interesting location. It was clearly an intentional and well-timed shot. Her arms serve as good leading lines and the sun behind the pitcher gives her hair great backlighting, framing the face.
