This photo is an excellent example of selective focus! It was also clearly an intentional shot – the photographer had to get close to the wall for a perspective we don’t see every day. Because of that angle choice, we are able to see her face as she places her heart on the wall instead of just the back of her head. This created a much more interesting photo. We see repetition in the hearts on the wall as well as the color pattern on the hearts, and it’s nice that her jacket matches the color while most of the students around her are in dark black or blue colors. It helps emphasize that she is the focal point. The wall and window frames in the background also create leading lines to the center student.
