Children’s Hospital West Campus offers expert care in a location that’s convenient and accessible for area families. The hospital houses the only 24/7 pediatric emergency room in the Greater West Houston area, six operating rooms, 86 inpatient beds comprised of acute-care and intensive care patient beds, and a Special Isolation Unit designed specifically for children with highly contagious infectious diseases. The state-of-the art unit is the only one of its kind in Texas and the Southwest region and among the few in the United States. Also offered at Texas Children’s West Campus: advanced imaging services including MRI and CT scans, a neurophysiology sleep lab, a pathology lab and a full-scale pharmacy. While West Campus is equipped and staffed to handle a myriad of medical needs, patients requiring highly specialized care, such as organ transplant surgery, will be referred to its Texas Children’s Medical Center Campus for treatment. Recognizing the need for specialized pediatric care in northwest Fort Bend County, Texas Children’s Pediatrics launched its new practice in Fulshear. The new clinic, which opened September 2022, is the 64th Texas Children’s Pediatrics location, with 50 in Houston, 13 in Austin, and one in College Station.

S everal of the major players in Houston’s renowned Texas Medical Center – the world’s largest medical complex – have hospitals, medical offices, clinics and other facilities in Katy and Fulshear. And they are expanding to meet the needs of the area’s growing population. The hospitals provided the following information about their expansion projects. HOUSTON METHODIST WEST HOSPITAL Houston Methodist West Hospital is engaged in a $65 million expansion project, anticipating the healthcare needs of the rapidly growing Katy and West Houston community. The expansion project includes a 150,000-square-foot, six-story medical office building that will house orthopedics and sports medicine on the top two floors and physical therapy on the ground floor. A sports field for physical therapy will also be
adjacent to the building. The area will include space for football, basketball, soccer and other activities. Hospital leadership is exploring how various community groups can also access and make use of the sports field. Additionally, the project will create 900 parking spots, nature spaces with walking trails and an access road from I-10 to Park Row. The new medical office building is set to open by the end of 2023. MEMORIAL HERMANN KATY HOSPITAL Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital is undergoing a $167 million expansion that will add 115,000 square feet of new and renovated service areas to better serve the greater Katy area’s growing population. It will add nearly 100 beds, a third professional office building, and additional parking, including a parking garage. The expansion will also add job opportunities, both clinical and administrative, for our community.
Memorial Hermann Katy’s expansion will grow the hospital from 214 beds to over 300 beds, including: • Doubling the size of the Emergency Center • Adding 80 universal beds, six antepartum beds and six neonatal intensive care beds and a neonatal continuing care unit • Adding two additional operating rooms and the expanding cardiac catheterization lab recovery area • Adding labor and delivery rooms, a cesarean section (C-section) suite and doubling the number of obstetrical emergency rooms.
