SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3 During the night we were blessed with a couple of inches of snow. It has been a very dry summer and fall, so this moisture was a welcoming sight. Waking up to snow does usually add a little extra work for the day. After the calves were fed grain and hay, I had to go and scrape off the hot wire I put up and tighten it back up so the herd bulls wouldn’t get out. After checking everything we enjoyed some family time building a snowman. We then headed to church and loved our day together. The kids get so busy during the school year that we live for the weekends with them! MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4 As you could guess, I woke up and fed the calves grain and hay. All of the snow had melted, I noticed, as I headed out to check the cows. We
like to check the cows in the pastures at least once during the day to make sure they are healthy and that they are where they are supposed to be. The biggest concern health-wise for
the cows at this time of year is mas titis because they are drying up since weaning. We were out of grain for the calves, so I pulled out the tractor and hammer mill. I spent the rest of the
