EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE In Episode 191 of the WR Radio Show, we sat down with Aaron Booth, Manager of Product Marketing for New Holland Parts and Services to discuss equipment maintenance. ranch wheels just to keep one sort of oil for managing your old fleet.

it for you. Make sure to hit every one every day because it’s really easy for time to get away and forget to do that on harder to reach ones. WR Radio: So is it important to use New Holland Lubricant for my New Holland products equipment? Aaron Booth: It is. There’s lots of options out there but there’s only one kind of Holland product that’s actually been tested, validated and certified to work in that equipment. Will something else work? We don’t know. For the investment of that equipment you have, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to even risk it. If it didn’t meet the standards that it needs to for the type of environment that those tractors are working in, we’d change it. Right? So it’s something that we can stand behind and we know it’s going to work as it needs to. WR Radio: Alright, well Aaron, appreciate you joining us here on the Working Ranch Radio Show. Just some basic things to be thinking about with our equipment maintenance. Like the rule of thumb, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. And when it comes to your machinery, good maintenance and the right types of fluids and grease and lubricants that you use in those are awfully critical. WR Radio: Can we over grease bearings?

WR Radio: Aaron, thanks for joining us here today on the Working Ranch Radio Show. We don’t talk a lot about equipment here on our program, but we all have it and it is something that we need to be aware of in terms of that maintenance. Let’s start off by talking about oil changes and getting the best performance out of this equipment.

Aaron Booth: You can over grease a sealed bearing. Certainly you want to make sure you’re not pushing a seal out by putting too much grease in. Most bearings though, it’s going to have a place to escape. WR Radio: I think it’s important to know where your grease points are on

trucks and heavy duty diesel type usage, but not necessarily making hay or running HRPM equipment, whereas New Holland Engine Oil is tested and meant to hold up over time for that sort of equipment. WR Radio: Let’s talk about oil maintenance from the perspective of these old

that equipment because sometimes you can forget to look at those places that you aren’t as easy to get to. Aaron Booth: Yeah, certainly. Typically there is a sticker there, if it’s missing make sure you add a sticker or a decal to highlight all those grease points, particularly if you’ve got hired help doing

machines and what keeps them running.

Aaron Booth: So whether it’s something you’re going to put away for the winter or it’s something you’re going to just use year round, having a maintenance schedule built out is important. Making sure you actually are using the product that’s tested to go for those service intervals is important. A lot of oil that’s out there is built for on-road

Aaron Booth: Yeah, the older machines, the tolerance and the emissions controls aren’t exactly there. The newer machine, it’s very critical that you’re using the right kind of oil. For the difference in price and for the convenience of it, it makes a lot of sense
