Bruce Davis, one of Linda’s sons said, “She was a great steward of everything, not just the land. From the branding box being ready with all the supplies to making sure we all had our saddles cleaned and oiled.” Mrs. Davis cowboyed from an early age and spent her entire life working and managing some of the most well-respected ranches in the West. Through her leadership, community
areas of the ranch and raised her children to do the same. Julia went on to say, “She was a hand and a good one in everything that she did. She could be working with a crew in the branding corral in the morning and have an amazing lunch at noon. Then that evening be somewhere extemporaneously giving a talk to some national group.” Mrs. Davis and the ranch were awarded the Best Remuda award in 2000. Les and Linda Davis are both inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners. She served on countless committees and board member associations, both at local and national levels. She left a great legacy of
matriarch Linda Mitchell Davis (1930-2024), a fourth generation New Mexico rancher who dedicated her life to preserving the spirit and heritage of the American West. The family drove to Amarillo, TX from Cimmaron, NM for a tribute and live interview with the six adult children of Linda Mitchell Davis during the 29th WRCA World Championship Ranch Rodeo on Friday, November 15, 2024. They talked about their mom and the heritage she left behind. Mrs. Linda Davis has six adult children, all born within seven and a half years. Two daughters and four boys

The ranch was established 151 years ago during the Maxwell Land Grant. It has a rich history in the central part of the United States. “My mom was a terrific hand. She was a great stockwoman, cattle, and horses. It was really important to her that we all learned to be good hands,” said Julia Davis Stafford. “From the time that we were little, she made darn sure that we were well mounted and had good saddles. We were with them all the time
