Working Ranch April/May 2025

Winter on the VX Ranch cows off the herd. We moved weaned calves to a different pasture and got the home herd back in their pasture. Afternoon chores fin ished up early in order to get inside and watch the Montana State Bobcats play for a National Championship! We are big Bobcat fans! TUESDAY, JANUARY 7 Today was a hauling day. I had some morning work commitments off the ranch, so after morning chores, was some book work and to do’s for the neighbor place. Once I arrived we loaded out and headed to Butte which is just shy of two hours from the ranch. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8 Today was bill pay and book work day. Chores commenced in the morning, per usual. Following chores I checked calves, and

headed to the house to handle office work. In the afternoon I did a little prep work for tomorrow, and then finished chores. THURSDAY, JANUARY 9 This morning we hauled calves to the sale barn. After chores, we gathered everything to the main corrals. Calves were sorted and re-sorted thanks to a couple gate failures. A few profanities may or may not have been uttered. First load of calves got delivered in the afternoon. Roads were clear and weather held, so we decided to take the sec ond load that day. Second load was ready to go around 6. Todd got back to the ranch about 11:30 pm. FRIDAY, JANUARY 10 Pryce (Todd’s grandson, Tori’s son) and Todd had an early morning heading over to the sale barn to watch the calves sell! Calves sold around 11:30 am and did well. The boys had lunch and made the trip home. Did eve ning chores and called it a day. SATURDAY, JANUARY 11 After morning chores, the middle of the day was consumed with office work. We are wrapping up bookkeeping items from the prior year as well as getting bids and logis tics sorted out for a couple ranch upgrade
