SPRING wrap Esports
Launched in 2022, Concordia’s Esports program offers students an opportunity to game together in a safe school environment by teaming up with fellow Crusaders as they work together to compete against other TAPPS and UIL schools across Texas and the USA. The team competes in over 20 different games such as League of Legends, Super Smash, Rocket League, Mario Kart, Madden NFL, NBA2K, Chess, and Overwatch. The team has weekly matches three days a week after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the Esports Arena on campus. Concordia’s Esports program is comprised of almost 10% of the student population and competes in two seasons: Fall and Spring. In the 23-24 school year, the Crusaders League of Legends team secured the program’s first team game title in the Spring Season. The team returns all five members for the 24-25 school year and are excited to defend their title. Also, the Esports program had their first national signing day event when Grayson Blackburn ’24 signed a letter of intent to compete for Central Methodist University (Fayette, Mo.) in college. This was a huge accomplishment for the young Esports program and hopefully the first of many to come! Esports Program continues growth with 1st Team State Championship in 23-24 as well as first college scholarship signee for Blackburn!
